Fostering Community Growth
The Foundation is on a mission to cultivate economic prosperity and foster community growth in Baton Rouge.
Our Vision Is Clear:
We strive to create pathways for meaningful upward mobility, positioning our city as a magnet for talent and opportunity.
At the heart of our vision lies a commitment to ensuring that every individual, regardless of their background or circumstances, has the chance to reach their full potential. We firmly believe that when individuals have access to opportunities for advancement, the entire community thrives. To realize this vision, we’re dedicated to creating an environment where everyone can flourish.
One key aspect of our efforts is building opportunities for all citizens to equip themselves with the skills and resources necessary to succeed in today’s ever-evolving job market. Through varied civic initiatives, the Foundation has been at the forefront of projects aimed at empowering individuals and our community.
Historical Projects:
Automotive Training Center (ATC)
Prior to 2018, individuals seeking training in certain automotive repair certificates had to travel out of state to complete the required coursework. The Foundation partnered with the Redevelopment Authority, Baton Rouge Community College, public officials, and other partners to bring the McKay Automotive Training Center to life. The center, tucked in the Ardendale neighborhood of North Baton Rouge, is a topnotch training facility to train automotive technicians on the newest technologies for car repair. This ensures that local residents have access to in-demand, high paying jobs while also keeping these employees’ spending local, further bolstering our local economy.
Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC)
While also supporting the creation of the ATC, leaders at the Foundation provided thought leadership and guidance in the creation of the Career and Technical Education Center. Modeled after a school in Newnan, Georgia, CTEC is a regional training provider for high school students in high demand, high paying jobs in the Capital Region. CTEC provides rigorous, project-based instruction, Industry Based Certifications (IBC), and dual enrollment opportunities that can be used toward an associate degree while in high school. Since opening in 2017, hundreds of students have trained for jobs in computer science, construction, culinary arts, and other jobs that allow them to realize gainful employment immediately upon graduation from high school.
Together, we have the power to transform Baton Rouge
We’ve partnered with Common Good Labs, a nationally acclaimed data science firm, to ensure our future civic initiatives are tailored to address the unique needs of different neighborhoods and demographic groups, leveraging data-driven insights to drive robust economic development.
Through these multifaceted efforts, the Foundation aims to create an inclusive environment where all residents can thrive and contribute to Baton Rouge’s economic success. Together, we have the power to transform Baton Rouge into a booming hub of opportunity. Join us in shaping a brighter future for our community, where talent and opportunity abound.
